Stanegate Hideaways

Stanegate Hideaways

Stretching across northern England, just to the South of Hadrian’s Wall, The Stanegate is the Roman road linking Corbridge, Vindolanda and Carlisle. Passing close by Stable Cottage and The Hideaway Huts at Huntercrook, and also our own home in the hamlet of Thorngrafton, one must follow this ancient route built before The Wall.

Here you will find a wealth of history: an abundance of wildlife: rugged moorlands and beautiful valleys, the awe-inspiring marvel of truly dark night skies filled with a myriad of stars; – spaces to explore and excite every sense – peace to relax and enjoy Nature at her most glorious and awe-inspiring. Whether you want to Walk the Wall, explore historical sites or just hide from the rat-race, Stanegate Hideaways provide the perfect places for escape, where you and your family will be most welcome!

Snuggled in a tranquil and picturesque setting Stable Cottage near Bardon Mill is a delightful stone built barn conversion which has been totally renovated to provide extremely comfortable 2-bedroomed holiday accommodation.

Our Very Own “Green” Evolution

Located in the quiet paddock adjacent to Stable Cottage, The Hideaway Huts are three Grande Roulottes, each providing exclusive accommodation for 2 guests, with stunning views across the South Tyne Valley by day and the glorious back-cloth of Northumberland’s Dark Skies by night.

Located on the site between The Hideaway Huts and Stable Cottage, we have a utility building to provide a safe place to stow away bicycles and also provide extra locker storage space for guests at The Hideaway Huts: Boot-room, Drying Facilities, Storage, Cycle-Stand
